Hello folks, I have recently received an associates degree in Sociology from Southwestern Christian College (Pictures will be available soon). On graduation day, for some reason, I wasn't excited. Everybody was happy. Family and friends came from far and near to congratulate and celebrate with their love ones. On my mind, I wasn't congratulating myself on a success because I was focused on a Bachelor's degree in Religious Studies (in two more years).
A number of people asked me why wasn’t I happy. I didn't want to tell them my reason because I didn't want to belittle an "associates degree" by saying "this is nothing to me; I'm waiting for my bachelor's." Regina told me, "be thankful after every accomplishment, CELEBRATE!" She help me realize that upon my success, I was being negative. "Anytime you make an accomplishment, you should be thankful and grateful. Its a blessing".
How in the world can one be negative when they have accomplished something?
Amen, "you learn something everyday"
On that day, I had too much to be thankful for. I was on a "National Dinner Day Scholarship", which covers my entire two year tuition. I've made good contributions on the Campus. I'm a young black male in college instead of being in jail. Can you see how negativity can block the excitement and joy of life.
Brice, stop being negative, enjoy life, get the thrill and excitement that is within life itself.
Folks, let's be thankful in all things. God is JUST too good for us to be upset, mad and negative.
Love God, Love self, Love people and Love life. Celebrate when God brings you to success.
Ecclesiastes 11:9 says, "Rejoice, O young man, in your youth, And let your heart cheer you in the days of your youth;" ~Peace

What you wrote was so true!!It helped me to think more positive!!!
Hey, Jerrica, How are you?
Hey OC that is so true that we do learn everyday. And even tho I told you that I have learned alot from you and still am. We have to be grateful for the little things because how would we be able to handle the "big things" that come as blessings. The Lord takes us by certain steps and I for one am thankful- it teaches stewardship and humility. I am so proud of all of us that graduated and even those a step further to doing the same. It is truly a blessing - it is easy to look at it as yea yea its just from a junior college but it holds great honor in the eyes of someone who is grateful and who made it despite the little " obstacles". We did it and this should encourage us and motivate us to continue. This is another step up the latter to success- we are one step closer!!!! I am so proud of you in that accomplishment and in this accomplishment and successful endevour that you are indulged in. you are truly blessing me and I know it is touching the lives of all who seek it. Great job, great job, great job!!! YOU go my MAN!!!
aww stop it, your making me blush. But i'm thankful for you.
Hey Steven, what you wrote has so much truth to it. After reading this i thought back to times in my life when i over looked the small accomplishments and i realized that those small accomplishments allowed me to receive the bigger accomplishments. You have reinforced that i need to be grateful and not over look all blessings that God sends my way. I am so proud of you, and i know it was hard being away from your family and friends in new york but you overcame that obstacle in order to do what God has called you to do. Continue your good works and always remember that God is on your side and every blessing that is given to you is valuable.
aww Jacqi, that was so thoughtful. you are right. I have to appreciate the small blessings in order to recieve the big blessings. Are the "small" blessings that God give me "small"?
No, the small blessings that God gives you are not small. The human mind makes us think that it is a small blessing because we believe that the blessing could have been even bigger. I believe with all my heart that there isn't a such thing as a small blessing because the blessing God gives us at a specific time is the only blessing we can handle at the moment.
Jacqi, I totally agree. we often make that mistake and put God's blessings on a scale. Thanks for your imput.
And that's why God blessed you with THAT wonderful and blessed woman!
