Think Before you Speak

Life is filled with lessons. One lesson that we all have learned is the statement "think before you speak." When we fail to think before speaking, unwise comments will flow out of our mouths and we will end up looking foolish. Often, there are time when we have to go back and restate the comments which we have made. It is much better to take the time out to think of an answer when somebody or even life ask you a question.

Hillary Clinton in this case spoke without thinking. Due to her erroneous commentary, she will now pay for her words. When we speak without thinking, foolishness will pour out of our mouths and we will pay for our comments. Watch the video and do not judge her, but learn from her. Peace

I'm Shaped Part I

A few months ago, I read a book called "The Purpose Driven Life" written by Rick Warren. This book is truly a great tool for anyone who is confused about life. Anyone who needs or wants help finding some meaning in life, I recommend this book to you. This book can give a boost to anyone who is interested in elevating their life to higher levels. This is an awesome book!
Of course, the Bible, the Word of God is the ultimate tool we all need, to show us how to be saved and live a life filled with purpose; however Mr. Warren has drawn out some principles from the Bible and brought them to life. Some of which are so clear and practical, that even a young man (me), who had a bad start in life, now has confidence, heading towards a great beginning.

When God spoke the world into existence, he gave everything and everyone a unique trait that only a "noun" can process. For instance, the sun gives light and cannot produce darkness; some animals hop, some run, some hunt, some swim; the state of Texas is slower then the state of New York (I had to add that in).I am joking, Texas is cool. As for human beings, we all have been "uniquely designed, or "shaped," to do certain things (Warren, 234)."

Application "Brice point": (While I'm passing through here, I must say...) This is the reason why we all should learn to get along with each other. None of us will ever be exactly like each other. WE ARE ALL DIFFERENT! Get used to it and learn to accept each other's differences. Thanks

Back to the topic: There is a reason why you were made the way you are made. God has "shaped" you to serve him, and with that, you serve him in your unique way. Rick Warren makes statements in his book such as: "God deliberately shaped and formed you to serve him in a way that makes your ministry unique"; "God doesn't make junk"(quoted from Ethel Waters); "God never wastes anything (Warren, 235)."
Notice, you might have had a bad beginning, but thank God that you can have a great ending. Often in life, we allow our life to be ordered by self-fulfilled prophesy. We allow "doubts" (sometimes of others) and our "past" to hinder us from moving forward. The World may never forgive you of your past; for example, when you apply for a job, most applications may ask you "have you been charged with a felony?" Records of your past will always show up, which often times hinder you from being employed. However, we have a creator who created the world and is willing and able to forgive you (man, I feel like preaching!).

You may feel as if you wasted time in life and "it's too late to change", but I'm here to empower, encourage and edify. If you are still alive, then that means God has given you another chance to live your life with greatness. When people try to place your past in front of you and say "you can't, you can't", knock it out of YOUR way and tell them "brother/sister, I'm Shaped." I'm going to quit this insert right here and work on Part II. I decided to write about this because we all need this (specially my peers). Hit me up with your comments or questions underneath the blog.

"We are God's Workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works." ~ Ephesians 2:10

Peace, Brice

In Loving Memory of my Buddy

My buddy Neichel Washington was born September 3, 1988 and pass away October 8, 2007. She was a member of the Queens church of Christ, Flushing, N.Y. I met her in a singing group called the "Easternaires." Neichel and I bonded real quick and we became good buddies. She had a beautiful smile. We were always busy, but whenever we talked, we would talk and talk and talk. We would encourage each other to stay strong in a young age. She loved lip gloss and was into fashion. I just cannot believe that she is gone. I wish I had the chance to say good bye, I wish I was there in the hospital and I wish, I wish and I wish. My heart is broken. I just cannot believe it! (please excuse my grammar, this is my website and I just want to express my self). I love you Neichel Washington .

An Associates Degree in Sociology

Hello folks, I have recently received an associates degree in Sociology from Southwestern Christian College (Pictures will be available soon). On graduation day, for some reason, I wasn't excited. Everybody was happy. Family and friends came from far and near to congratulate and celebrate with their love ones. On my mind, I wasn't congratulating myself on a success because I was focused on a Bachelor's degree in Religious Studies (in two more years).
A number of people asked me why wasn’t I happy. I didn't want to tell them my reason because I didn't want to belittle an "associates degree" by saying "this is nothing to me; I'm waiting for my bachelor's." Regina told me, "be thankful after every accomplishment, CELEBRATE!" She help me realize that upon my success, I was being negative. "Anytime you make an accomplishment, you should be thankful and grateful. Its a blessing".

How in the world can one be negative when they have accomplished something?
Amen, "you learn something everyday"

On that day, I had too much to be thankful for. I was on a "National Dinner Day Scholarship", which covers my entire two year tuition. I've made good contributions on the Campus. I'm a young black male in college instead of being in jail. Can you see how negativity can block the excitement and joy of life.
Brice, stop being negative, enjoy life, get the thrill and excitement that is within life itself.

Folks, let's be thankful in all things. God is JUST too good for us to be upset, mad and negative.

Love God, Love self, Love people and Love life. Celebrate when God brings you to success.

Ecclesiastes 11:9 says, "Rejoice, O young man, in your youth, And let your heart cheer you in the days of your youth;" ~Peace

Why do I want to be who I desire to be?

I remember when I was a little kid and my friends and I would ask each other "what do you want to be when you grow up?" Some would say: a doctor, nurse, bus driver, wrestler, mechanic, teacher, a thief (lol) and much more. I always wanted to be a "children's doctor" (pediatrician). Think way back (lol) when you were a young lad or a young "cute, adorable" little girl, living in the farm, the city, or the "hood". Do you remember those conversations that use to brighten up the day and we would jump up and down confessing that we will become who we wanted to become? However, how often did we ask ourselves "why" did we want to become who we wanted to become?

Living in N.Y.C, I've been taught many lessons that I believe that only N.Y.C can teach you (not trying to start any beef). One thing I've learned from N.Y, in terms of the environment, that when you waste time, YOU WASTE TIME.

For example, When you walk the streets of Manhattan, everybody is about their business and surely they do not have time to stop and say "hello" ("what a rude place" ~ Anonymous [Texas folks]). There is a reason for certain individuals walking the streets of the city. They are heading towards a particular destination. That destination must be reach before the day is over. If they do not meet that destination before the day is over, then it would be a mission incomplete. Perhaps, if I can speak on behalf of some, the reason why individuals with a nice suit or dress are walking in haste with their head focus on that destination because there is a place where they can go and say "mission complete."

Why do you want to be who you desire to be? Even with some of those individuals who walk up and down the streets of Manhattan should ask themselves the same question. I could walk down the streets of Manhattan with a nice suit, long coat, fresh hair cut, have my head focus on anything, walk fast, refuse to say hello and destined to go no where. Anybody can do it!

Why do you want to be a doctor?
Why do you want to be a lawyer?
Why do you want to be a teacher?
Why do you want to be a business owner?
Why do you want to be a police officer?
Why do you want to be the president of the United States?
Why do you want to be a preacher?

There are a lot of "why's" that needs to be answered in our lives. Life is too short to waste time in anything. James says "... what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away" James 4:14 ~ New King James.

"There's has to be a reason for everything. If there isn't a reason for anything, then there isn't a reason to live." ~ S.J Brice

Notice: When there isn't a "why" in the center of your future endeavors, no matter, if you become a successful doctor, preacher or anything else, the mission is incomplete. Why? Because there isn't any "why" (purpose, goal) in your mission. You are fighting everyday of living for nothing.

I believe God called me for something else rather then a pediatrician. I believe that God called me to be a minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We all have dreams and goals we want to accomplish. The question which we all fail to ask is: Why do I want to be who I desire to be?

Example: Why do I want to be a minister:
I want to bring Glory to God as I use my gifts in Ministering to God's people. I believe that God has blessed me to be a good source of help to those who is (was) in dying need of help. I want to use these gifts and be as relevant as I possibly can in the lives of People. I enjoy being a blessing to the Lives of people and Glorifying God.

Notice the "King of the Jungle (the picture above)." The king often remains in that position. One may ask: why? From observation, the king is overseeing his family and watching for predators. At the end of the day, when his family is safe from predators, he will go back to his place of comfort and be at peace because "mission complete."

My question to you is: Who do you want to be and why do you want to be who you want to be?

Proverbs 13:16 "Wise people think before they act; fools don't - and even brag about their foolishness" ~ New Living Translation.

Welcome to my Website

Hello all in "net" (Internet) land ! This is Steven Brice. I am a young man from Brooklyn, N.Y, where I attend the Kings Church of Christ. I decided to start this blog because I have a desire to uplift my people through Empowerment, Encouragment and Edification. This site will be updated weekly so tune in, leave your comments, questions or opinions under each insert and view the mind sets of many lawyers, teachers, students, children, parents, preachers and much more.

One thing I have learned in life is that, every aspect of life has a spiritual application. Every aspect of our lives, whether it is good or bad, has a lesson within it that we all can learn from. Often times when we are in troubling circumstances, we work our way out of those circumstances, and fail to grab the lesson that was hidden in that circumstance. When that occur's, we find ourselves walking (if not running) back to the same circumstance blind folded and wonder how we end up at the same position. Has anybody been there before?

There are empowering, encouraging and edifying lessons in all situations.
"Seek and you shall find".

"Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing." James 1:2-4 ~ New Living Translation
